What is Home Sleep Testing?

In order to diagnose Sleep Apnea or other sleep disorders, a patient must undergo a polysomnography (sleep study). This is typically done in a sleep lab, requiring the patient to spend the night in-lab, while the polysomnography (PSG) equipment records his/her physiological data. What is a Level 2 sleep study?

Home sleep test (HST) with Type II portable monitor, unattended (sleep studies that are performed without the oversight of a sleep technologist), with a minimum of 7 channels. Type II devices must include the following channels: EEG. EOG. ECG/heart rate.
